The Last Wish Keeper |
In a world where wishes were used as money, people worked hard to earn them. Each person had a small box that could hold up to five wishes. They could trade wishes for things like food, clothes, or even a house. Wishes were the most valuable thing anyone could have, and they were given by a magical creature known as the Wishkeeper.
Mira was a young girl who worked in the village market. She had always wanted a wish, but like everyone else, she had to save up for it. Every day, she saw people exchanging their wishes for things they needed. Some would buy food, others would use their wishes to make their dreams come true. Mira had saved up two wishes over the years, but she knew it would take a long time before she could afford what she truly wanted.
One day, while cleaning near an old tree outside the village, Mira found a small, shining object half-buried in the ground. It was a wish! But unlike any other, it was glowing brighter than any she had ever seen. Mira knew that this was the last unclaimed wish—the one everyone had heard stories about. No one had found it in all these years.
At first, Mira thought of all the things she could get. Maybe a new house for her family, or enough food for everyone to eat for a year. But as she held the wish in her hands, she heard a soft voice in her mind.
"This wish comes with a cost," the voice whispered. "You may use it, but something important to you will be taken in return."
Mira was scared. She didn’t want to lose anything, but she also didn’t want to let go of the wish. After thinking for a long time, she decided to use it for something that could change her life and help others. She made her wish:
"I wish for enough wishes for the entire village, so no one will ever go hungry again."
The moment she made her wish, the ground shook slightly, and a soft light surrounded her. It felt warm and comforting. But then, Mira felt something strange. Her box, the one she used to store her own wishes, was now empty. All her wishes had vanished.
Mira didn’t feel sad, though. As she walked back to the village, she saw the effects of her wish. People were smiling, laughing, and sharing food with each other. They no longer had to worry about where their next meal would come from.
However, as she looked around, she realized something. The villagers no longer seemed to notice her. They had enough to eat and live, but they no longer saw Mira as important. She had given everything to help them, but in doing so, she had lost her place in their world.
Mira had used her last wish to help everyone, but in return, she had become invisible to the people she loved. Though she was no longer seen, Mira found peace knowing she had made a difference. The cost of her wish had been high, but she had chosen it with a heart full of hope for others.
From then on, Mira continued to watch over the village, a silent keeper of the last wish. She knew that the most important thing wasn’t what she lost, but what she had given.
