The Mirror’s Curse

The Mirror’s Curse

The Smith family moved into their new house on a bright sunny day. It was an old house, full of charm but also a little spooky. In the attic, they found an antique mirror. It was large, with a golden frame carved with strange symbols. Mrs. Smith thought it would look lovely in the living room, so they cleaned it and hung it on the wall.

That night, little Emma, the youngest in the family, was the first to notice something strange. While brushing her teeth, she glanced at the mirror and saw a shadow behind her. She turned around quickly, but no one was there.

"Mom, I saw something in the mirror," Emma said nervously.

"It's just your imagination, dear," Mrs. Smith replied with a smile.

But soon, everyone in the family began to see odd things. Mr. Smith saw his reflection move when he stood still. Mrs. Smith heard whispers when she walked past the mirror. Emma’s brother, Jake, saw a pale hand press against the glass when he was alone in the room.

The family decided to cover the mirror with a sheet. But even then, they could hear faint knocks and whispers coming from it.

One evening, Emma had a dream. In her dream, she saw a woman in an old-fashioned dress crying in front of the mirror. "Help me," the woman whispered. Emma woke up, her heart racing.

The next day, Emma told her family about the dream. Together, they decided to investigate the mirror. They searched the attic for clues and found an old diary. The diary belonged to a woman named Margaret who had lived in the house over 100 years ago.

Margaret’s diary told a sad story. She had been trapped by a cruel spell cast on the mirror by a jealous rival. Her spirit was locked inside, unable to escape.

"We have to help her," Emma said.

They researched how to break the curse and learned they needed to burn the mirror under the full moon. That night, the Smiths took the mirror to the backyard. The moon was bright and round, casting a silver glow over the grass.

With a deep breath, Mr. Smith lit the fire, and they threw the mirror into the flames. The glass cracked and shattered with a loud scream, and the air grew icy cold. Then, just as quickly, everything went silent.

The next morning, the Smith family woke up feeling lighter, as if a heavy weight had been lifted. They returned to the spot where they had burned the mirror and found only ashes.

From that day on, the house felt warm and welcoming. Emma smiled, knowing Margaret’s spirit was finally free.

The family never brought another antique into their home again.
